Golf Canada has added some interesting functionality to the Golf Canada App that allows scoring for events to be entered into the app thus producing a live leaderboard.
Players can enter scores individually into the app or one player can enter the scores for all players in the group as it is a very simple process. Here is how it works:
- Players must have the Golf Canada (GC) app on your phone, the web-site does not have the functionality.
- Once you have opened the Golf Canada app, on the top left hand corner beside the GC logo is a small white arrow. Press the arrow to open the sidebar menu.
- Open the “Community” tab
- Choose the “Outings” menu item
- Choose the the event from the list provided.
- Open your tee time with the down arrow beside the time
- Look for your name in your 3 some or 4 some and choose the “Scoring” button in black
- Should be on hole #1 and press the blank spot beside “Gross”
- From the score entry screen, press the grey circle if you got a par, press the “-“ button if you got a birdie or the “+” button if you got a bogey. You can also toggle back and fourth with the – and + buttons to alter the score, it’s just a bit quicker to enter as indicated.
- Choose the check mark at the top right of the screen once finished for that hole. If you enter the wrong score or put something on the wrong hole, you can choose that gross score from the scorecard and adjust or remove the score with the – or + buttons as required.
- To see the leaderboard, press the “Leaderboard” Icon above your scorecard. You can see all players scorecards by choosing the players name. It has been noted that sometimes when you hit the leaderboard icon nothing displays. If this happens, close the GC app and go back in to the outing. Pressing the leaderboard icon will work once you go back in.
- To go back in to enter more scores press the “Scoring” Icon above the leaderboard.
- After you have entered all of the scores, you can choose the “Post to Handicap” button above your scorecard and your adjusted hole by hole score will be posted to your handicap record. The other players in your group must upload their individual scores to their handicap record.
That’s all there is to it.
