Changes coming soon to the Men’s Club

Hi gents,

Just wanted to fill everyone in on some things that we have been working on with the club that will be implemented in the very near future…

Maintaining the Golf Course – Kris, Curtis and I met with our Superintendent (Richard) yesterday. He will be adding seed to the sand in all stations when the temperature improves to optimal growing conditions (likely in early April). The expectation is that you either replace your divot, or use the seed/sand combo. If you’re at your ball waiting for a few seconds to hit your shot and see unfilled divots around you, please fill them. The same expectation applies to repairing ball marks on the greens, and raking bunkers.

We all want the course to be in phenomenal condition, but it will take a sense of pride and ownership on all of our parts to ensure that we can achieve and maintain these conditions. If you see someone in your group not adhering to maintaining the course, it is your responsibility to remind them to do so.

We will also be diligent in arranging regular “divot days” where we will go out as a group to target specific areas on holes that need attention. These will be coordinated with a sign up through Golf Genius, and with good attendance, we should be able to complete a hole in a very short period of time. With focused attention on these items from everyone, we’ll have the best looking golf course that isn’t called Shaughnessy.

Pace of Play Policy – The expectation for any non-shotgun tournament round will be 4 hours and 5 minutes. This will be monitored by the marshal, communicated to the pro-shop and determined after the round if your group was out of position. We strongly advise implementing the “ready golf” policy in every group. Walk to your ball, get your yardage, and be ready to hit your shot when it’s your turn to play. If your group is out of position, please send players that have completed the hole to the next tee to hit their tee shots while the others in the group putt out. If after the round a group is determined to be out of position, they will be notified and penalized.

We simply must improve in this area, and we owe it to the club and every group that plays after us to set an acceptable pace of play. More details to come on this soon.

I know this was a long read, but wanted to get this out there for everyone. We greatly appreciate your attention to this, and there will be more details coming soon. If you have any questions, please feel free to speak to myself, Kris, Adam or Curtis.

Thanks, Mark

    1. I will run that past Richard to put one on that tee so we can fill up. 14 is definitely one of the problem holes for divots. Thanks!
