(Sorry for the long email)
For those who are not aware, there are points awarded from 1000 to 100 dependant on the top 9 in the standings after each Major Tournament (Masters, Spring Open, Summer Open, Fall Open). We have the final 2 day tournament mid September (Legacy Cup) to finalize the standings and award the winners of each flight, both Gross and Net. The Champions of each flight will be recognized at the year end wind up. This years standings are extremely close and should make for an exciting Fall Open and Legacy Cup.
There have been a few inquiries and suggestions regarding how points are accumulated, so we have also been tracking the standings on Golf Genius to see if there is another way to award the Order of Merit Champions for the year. In this scenario, we would be using the combined points of each player in both Gross and Net Individually and not using flights. The top 3 in Gross and top 3 in Net would then be the Champions. The reason for this “trial tracking system” is due to the fact that a handful of members bounce between flights and do not keep their points between flights. If you want to have a look at the standings in this scenario, check in with me on the patio next tournament. To be clear, this is not how the points are being accumulated for this season, it is something we are looking into for next year.
